What do we actually want???

We all spend lots of time in knowing what our loved ones want, we spend time with our friends unknowingly or invariably imitating their interests and their desires, we look at the surroundings and feel that what the majority of people like, is what we like… Have we ever stopped for just a minute and gave the thought of what we really want and what we really aspire to have???

In this Terabyte world long gone from megabyte and gigabyte, we are now running aimlessly under the pressure of peers and the society. Why do we now hate to be the same child that once we were long back??? Why do we look at the surroundings to decide something that we need, why do we actually care so much so that we forget what we really are and what we really want…?

Is it not true that we all cried, forced and never stopped until we got what we wanted when we were a child? Can’t we actually be the same after so many years of living in a society of compromise and compensations. Are we actually strong enough to stand for what we actually want???

Keeping everything simple in life is harder than what we think. One simple way but hardest is to know what we actually want. Let’s all try a simple exercise of 5 mins, I bet most of us fail to imagine the answer immediately. Ill tell why after we ask the question.

Sit somewhere alone, take a deep breathe and be responsible about your thoughts. Now ask yourself of what you actually want to be after 5 years. Imagine what you would be doing in next 5 years on the same day. Imagine what you would be wearing, what you would be doing, where you would be working and with whom you would be spending your time with…

After everyone of us tries this exercise, I would be sure there would be 2 types of people. Those who actually got the imagination just withing a minute of everything the questions asked for. There is other type of people who struggled to imagine, felt hard to see through 5 years and stand there…

For those who were sure with the answers, congratulations you are among those who have realized early in life of what you actually gonna be. Cheers.

For those who couldn’t figure out the answer within a minute, do not worry because many of us fall into the same category and are struggling with something called as “Going with the Flow”.

I always imagined that those who fail to pursue their dreams, those who dream of something but end up somewhere else – are all those who have been going with the flow. But I was wrong until I started to hear stories of people who wanted to be the best in a career but ended up in some other profession and still were giving their best. They didn’t just go with the flow, they failed to pursue their dream which they always dreamt of, but they accepted the reality and made sure to be flexible with their dream job but not their dream personality. This is not surely something we can call as “go with the flow”.

What I wish to say is,

    1.      Spending 5 minutes of time everyday in life imagining what we really want to be in 5 years from now, either infront of a mirror, a best friend or loved ones would actually show us a clear path different from the herd mentality. (Daring to do it is something else and a bigger task in itself, atleast we need to first think of what we want)

    2.      While imagining what we want, it’s always better to imagine the personality we wish to have more than the materialistic things that we wish to have… because the world is so competitive that everyone who dreams of a specific profession or position can’t reach there because of many factors, I wish no one that bad, but if it happens, we still need to be focused on who we want to be rather than cry on who we couldn’t become as a professional.

    3.      Some may reach their goals early, some may reach very easily, some may get more than what they wished for, but its always important for us to be focused on what we wished for. We will never attain the satisfaction by just running ahead of some other person. The true happiness comes when we think to do something and we actually do it despite of all odds. I call it the “Wholesome”. Completing a task we assign ourselves is how we get the ultimate satisfaction.

There is a famous quote by the author of the book “The Alchemist” – Paulo Coelho, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it”. The quote is too good to be real for most of us who think that the words are just some motivational shit which has no real life importance. What we fail to understand is that, everytime we do something, everytime we lead our life in some or the other place, we never ask ourselves what we actually want…

Let’s first know what we actually want, because “Who am I?” is the toughest question which when answered makes life better…

Once we know what we want, lets ask for it everytime and everywhere. Let’s resonate in it and get it done…
